Pocket Purifier Review & Giveaway

When we were kids we never gave any thought to things like germs, bacteria, E-coli or harmful things like that. We were kids! We just wanted to have fun. We certainly didn't concern ourselves about what disgusting things lie on the things we touched or played with.

As a parent that has all changed. I think I turned into a "germ-o-phobe" (for all you "Seinfeld" fans). I am always disinfecting and cleaning off things around my home that my kids touch. Door handles, faucets, toys, books, the phone, remote controls... you name it, I clean it. I have read too many articles and saw too many scary things on TV that show exactly what lives on the surfaces we touch daily. It makes you want to run around with rubber gloves on. GROSS!

As part of my New Year, New Me theme this month I am focusing on health, both mine and that of my family. That is why I was thrilled to find the Pocket Purifier by Purely Products. This handy little device has a special UV-C bulb that when turned on and exposed to surface areas or items needing purification, it will "attack" the germs and bacteria killing their DNA, and preventing them from reproducing and growing.

The Pocket Purifier takes 4 AA batteries (not included) and is great for purifying everyday things like telephones, toys, shopping cart handles, remotes, pacifiers... the list is endless! And since it's a special light you don't have to worry about harmful toxins in your home or effecting our environment. You can purify your child's pacifier and it's safe for them to use right away.

The Pocket Purifier is about 6" long (I don't have a ruler handy, I'm guessing it's length) and about 3" wide. It comes with a strap and a it even has a build in flashlight. This would fit perfectly in almost any purse, backpack, or even the glove compartment in your car.

Imagine how great the Pocket Purifier would be when you go shopping to use on those germ infected shopping cart handles. I know that grosses me out the most. I don't even want to know what grows on those.

Have you heard that women's purses and pocketbooks are a haven for a variety of very harmful and dangerous germs and bacteria? If you had a Pocket Purifier you could purify your purse daily to prevent those germs from getting in your home.

The Pocket Purifier is easy to use. You simple slide the switch to Purifier, hold it over the object you want to purify for about 10-15 seconds and you are done. It's that quick and easy. Perfect for the family on the go or for mom's who have little ones to chase after and who don't have time to stand around and wait.

Would you like to win a Pocket Purifier? The generous folks over at Purely Products has generously offered FIVE Pocket Purifiers to She Scribes readers. I am going to be giving away one a week for the next three weeks and then two on the fourth week, so you'll have plenty of chances to win one.

To enter you MUST click here to view the Pocket Purifier page. Look around at the information provided (left side bar), then come back here and comment on a fact you learned about germs (try not to get too grossed out!) or why you need a Pocket Purifier (also found on their page). I can tell who visited the sponsor's site and who has not.

Would you like extra chances to win? For each of the following please leave a separate comment.

I saw your post on the mom pack group and thought id stop by and check out your blog. OMG THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!! I visited the site by the way. There have been COUNTLESS times we've gone no where but to the grocery store, then the very next day, our kids get sick! UGH SO FRUSTRATING! Now more than ever my husband and I have to be really careful about what and who we expose our kids to because my 3 1/2 year old son was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and when he gets sick.. it isnt only just the sniffles and coughs, but its also increased blood sugars, added worries, and added stressors! This would be great for us if we could get one especially for when we go out to the grocery store! Praying we win your giveaway contest so we can get one just for that purpose... as well as around the house!

I totally need a pocket purifier because I currently am on 4 different chemo meds and also on steroids so I pretty much have NO immune system. I really have to watch out (especially during cold and flu season) whenever I go out in public because there are SO many germs out there.

Thanks for an awesome review and giveaway.

Organic chemicals are widely used as ingredients in household products. Paints, varnishes, and wax all contain organic solvents, as do many cleaning, disinfecting, cosmetic, degreasing, and hobby products. Fuels are made up of organic chemicals. All of these products can release organic compounds while you are using them, and, to some degree, when they are stored.

The number of germs lurking around computer keyboards is astonishing. With all of us using the dining room computer at one time or another, it does seem to be the easiest vector for germs to pass around. Studies by the Environmental Protection Agency and other researchers have found that volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are common in the indoor environment and that their levels may be ten to thousands of times higher indoors than found in the outdoor air. There may be anywhere from 50 up to hundreds of individual VOCs in an indoor air sample.

Volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects.

I would love one of these! My family keeps passing around the same cold. This would really help!

"More than 200 different viruses are known to cause symptoms of the common cold"

This thing is awesome! I would love to have one of these, especially since I have a 4 month old.

Here's what I learned:
UV-C light has been tested for the past 60 years by governmental and private agencies and companies and the conclusion remains that there is simply nothing more effective for killing germs and bacteria, purifying the air we breath and the water we drink.

Every time I catch a cold, it ends up developing into something more serious, like bronchitis or walking pneumonia. I'd love to have this device to help reduce my exposure to germs in cold and flu season!

I need this because volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids, according to the website; however, I have MS which means the meds make me more susceptible to illnesses & I am always using disinfectant. Thanks.

I had always thought that you shouldn't kiss or you spread germs. It is nice to know that that is false.
