OK I am IN LOVE with our new vacuum! I hate cleaning, but it's something we have to do. Vacuuming is also not a highlight of my day.
Our old vacuum died out this morning. Bummer! Since we need to vacuum every couple of days we headed over to Sears to take advantage of the holiday sales. Before we left my husband checked out some reviews on some of the vacuums so we were armed with those before we even got to the store.
After checking out a couple of vacuums we went with the Bissell Pet Eraser vacuum. We have four cats and a dog. Pet hair is everywhere! No matter how much you clean the hair is always there. Even for people like us who keep a clean home you can never escape the hair and dander, unless of course we either get rid of our pets, which is NOT happening, or shave them bald. Ha Ha.
We picked up the Bissell Pet Eraser at Sears for $127 and paid $25 for a 2 year service agreement. There is a Hepa filter you can replace which is about $14. It was $20 with our other vacuum so there is a savings there. The Bissell Pet Eraser also has a filter that you can wash off which saves money as well.
When we opened the box we discovered that it had to be put together but it was easy enough to do and in about 10 minutes the vacuum was put together and ready to use.
We're pretty impressed with it's high tech look. We also love the huge canister that collects the stuff you vacuum up. Our other vacuum had a small canister so we had to clean it out after vacuuming each room.
The Bissell Pet Eraser vacuum has a front piece that flips up or down that helps collect the pet hair. Since we have five pets we kept that piece down to collect the hair.
The Bissell Pet Eraser was not loud at all. It also has a generous size plug so you can cover an average size room without having to move the plug around.
Here is the are my husband first did with the Bissell Pet Eraser. I'd have to say the area he did was about 12' x 12'.
To vacuum just the living room which over all is about 35' x 12' my husband emptied out the canister four times! That would lead us to believe two things. For one our old vacuum did NOTHING as far as picking up things from the carpet and secondly that the Bissell Pet Hair eraser is AMAZING and truly does pick up pet hair, dander and then some!
This was the BEST investment we have made in a long time. We love it! The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is a fantasic vacuum, and it's not overly expensive. We saw vacuums that were $75, even one that was $67. But you have to remember that you get what you pay for. The $127 we paid for the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser was not THAT bad, especially since we saw plenty of vacuums for over $200+ (even one for over $500!).
The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser vacuum also has a few handy accessories. My favorite is the soft attachment that molds to the shape of your furniture so you can use it to vacuum off hair from the arms of the chair or the couch because the attachment "molds" to whatever you are vacuuming.

OK, that went great. The vacuum went smoothly across the carpet. It's a good weight too so it's not too heavy for me to lug around either.
